How to translate your CV from Hebrew to English in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Upload your Hebrew CV

PDF, DOC, DOCX or TXT, up to 10 MB and 5 pages. Made in Canva? Download it as a PDF first; photos or scans of a CV are not accepted. The original layout does not matter: the CV is laid out again.

  2. 2

    Choose English and a design

Coming from this page, English is already selected. Pick one of 25+ templates; the photo is optional. In the optional notes field you can ask for "American English" or "British English", or give the Latin spelling of your name.

  3. 3

    Review, edit and download

Read the English version, change any line in the editor, delete the personal details you do not need and download the PDF.

What gets translated and what stays the same

Translated
Your summary, job titles, duties and results, skills, degree titles and fields, courses, projects, volunteering and any custom section.
Kept as is
Your name, company, university and school names, email, phone, links, software names (Excel, SAP, Python) and certification acronyms. Names are not translated, so check that yours appears in Latin letters, as in your passport.
Not summarised
The tool is set up to keep every job, bullet point and date of the original. Still, compare the result with your CV before you download it.
Checked by you
The tool translates what your CV contains and removes nothing on its own. Delete your age, date of birth or marital status in the editor yourself. Your Israeli ID number never belongs on an English CV.

Israeli CV vs. US resume vs. UK CV

Personal details and format change too, not only the language. These are the most common conventions.

General conventions, not rules: if the job ad asks for something else, follow the ad. Many tech and international companies in Israel ask for an English CV even for local roles. Write months as words: in the US, 03/04/2025 reads as March 4.

How to write Israeli qualifications in English

Qualification names are what gets mistranslated most. Use the official English name of the institution and explain the qualification in plain words.

Bagrut (בגרות)
"Israeli matriculation certificate (Bagrut)". You can list subjects taken at the highest level: "Mathematics: 5 units (highest level)".
Handasai (הנדסאי)
"Practical Engineer (2-year technical diploma) in Electronics". Not "Engineer" alone, which reads as an engineering degree.
Toar rishon (תואר ראשון)
Bachelor's degree: "B.Sc. in Computer Science, Tel Aviv University" or "BA in Economics, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem".
Toar sheni (תואר שני)
Master's degree: "M.A. in Psychology", "M.Sc. in Data Science" or "MBA".
Doktorat (דוקטורט)
PhD.
Average grade (ממוצע)
Keep the 100-point scale: "GPA: 88/100". Do not convert it to a 4.0 GPA yourself; for an official equivalence, use WES (US, Canada) or UK ENIC.
Professional course (קורס)
Course name, institution and length: "Full Stack Development course (6 months)". Military courses are written the same way, in civilian terms.

Hebrew literal translations to avoid on an English CV

Hebrew to English CV translation: FAQ

How do I translate my CV from Hebrew to English?

Upload your Hebrew CV to MyEasyCV, choose English as the CV language and a design, and the English version is ready in about a minute. Review it, remove what you do not need and download the PDF.

Is it free?

Creating your first CV and seeing the full result is free with an account, no card needed. The clean PDF without watermark comes with the One-Time Package (one payment; the price depends on your country) or the Pro Plan.

How do I list IDF service on an English resume?

In a "Military Service" section: "Israel Defense Forces (IDF)", your role, your rank if it helps, and a line or two on results in civilian language, such as "Led a team of 12". Include only publicly shareable details and spell out military acronyms. National Service works the same way: "National Service (Sherut Leumi)".

Do employers in Israel want an English CV?

Many tech and international companies in Israel ask for one; if the job ad is in English, reply in English. For ads in Hebrew, a Hebrew CV usually fits, so keeping both versions helps.

How will my name appear in Latin letters?

Names are not translated, so check how yours appears. Write the spelling you want in the notes field, ideally as in your passport, or correct it in the editor.

Should I convert my average to a 4.0 GPA?

No. Write it as it is, "GPA: 88/100", so the employer sees the real scale. For an official comparison, use a credential evaluation service.

Is this a certified or notarized translation?

No. MyEasyCV writes your CV in English for job applications, where employers expect a normal CV. Diplomas and documents for authorities need a notarized or certified translation.

American or British English?

Use the one of the country you apply in: American for the US (organize, center), British for the UK (organise, centre); for a company in Israel, follow the ad. Ask for it in the notes field.

Can I translate my CV from English to Hebrew?

Yes. Upload your English CV and choose Hebrew as the CV language. Same rule: the first CV is free to create and preview with an account; the clean PDF is paid.

Your experience is the same in any language. Let it read well in English.

Upload your Hebrew CV: the first English version is free to create and preview.
