Cookies, analytics and advertising
We use cookies and similar technologies (small files or browser storage on your device) for the purposes below.
Necessary
Required for the website to work and always active: keeping you signed in, security and spam protection (Google reCAPTCHA), payments (our payment processor Lemon Squeezy), remembering your language and remembering your cookie choice (cookie mecv_consent, kept for 6 months). We also use our own first-party cookies to understand which pages and campaigns lead to sign-ups and purchases; this information stays on our own servers and is not shared with third parties, except for the Google Ads conversion reports described under Marketing.
Analytics
- Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC) — statistics about how visitors use the website: pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser. We use Google Consent Mode.
- Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation) — heatmaps and session recordings that show how pages are used (for example clicks and scrolling), so we can find and fix usability problems.
Marketing
- Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited / Meta Platforms, Inc.) — measures the results of our ads on Facebook and Instagram and lets us show our ads to people who visited our website. It records page views and actions such as creating an account, creating your first CV, viewing the paywall, starting a checkout and completing a purchase.
- Meta Conversions API — our server sends these same events directly to Meta so that they can be measured reliably. The events contain your email address and account ID in hashed form (SHA-256, so the readable address is not sent), your IP address, your browser’s user agent and Meta’s cookie identifiers (
_fbp,_fbc). - Meta Custom Audiences — we may upload hashed email addresses of registered users to Meta to show our ads to existing users or to exclude them from ads. According to Meta’s terms, hashed data is used only for matching and is deleted after the matching process.
- Google Ads (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC) — measures the results of our ads on Google. When you arrive by clicking one of our Google ads, the link contains a click identifier (
gclid, gbraidorwbraid), which we store with your visit. Our server then reports to Google Ads when that visit leads to steps such as creating an account, creating your first CV, viewing the paywall or completing a purchase (with the purchase amount). These reports contain the click identifier (when we have one), the time of the step, an internal reference number and — only when marketing is allowed for you (in the EU/EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland only with your consent; elsewhere unless you turn marketing off, see below) — your email address in hashed form (SHA-256, so the readable address is not sent). Google uses the hashed address only to match the report to a click on one of our ads (enhanced conversions for leads); if we do not have the click identifier, the report contains the hashed address instead. The reports never contain your name. We also import sign-up and purchase events from Google Analytics into Google Ads for the same purpose.
Your choice and how to change it
Visitors from the European Union / European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland (and visitors whose location we cannot determine) see a cookie banner. For them, analytics and marketing tools are loaded only after they accept them; you can accept all, reject all or choose per category. Server-side events (Meta Conversions API and Google Ads conversion reports, including the hashed email address) and Custom Audiences follow the same choice. Outside these regions, analytics and marketing tools are active by default, and you can turn them off at any time.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before it. When you make a choice, we store it in the cookie mentioned above and, if you are signed in or create an account, also in your account (your choice, its date and your country), so that our server follows it. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings.
Google, Microsoft and Meta may process data in the United States and other countries. These providers state that they rely on safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
Children’s Privacy
Our service is not intended for individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information in accordance with this privacy policy.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date.
